Varkala Cliff

Varkala is a town in the Indian state of Kerala
The beaches around this area are excellent and if you’re looking for a cheap holiday, Varkala  is the best option.
Varkala is the best place to relax, there are lots of budget hotels & resorts, Ayurvedic Massage centres, Sea food, Kathakali performances etc.
I’ve been there many times its a wonderful place, December- January is the best season in Varkala, weather is so good at that time, there are lots of hotels, with all the facilities, I stayed there in two three hotels which is having swimming pool as well, Preet Beach Resort,  Thiruvambadi resort,
The best thing which I like about the varkala is Sea food, there are lots of shacks on the cliff, where you can select your choice of fresh fish, crab, prawns, and that will be cooked by the chef in different styles, as per your liking.
Also you can join cooking classes there, where you can learn traditional Kerala recipe’s, also you can get a chance to see Kathakali performance including their make up part before the show, I think the ticket cost was around INR 200/- per pax for Kathakali Show, it was really good.
Varkala beach is goof for relaxing, I’ve been there many times, still I want to go there again and again, as I feel that it is the most comfortable & safe place, its a family beach
you can enjoy the evening , your dinner on the shacks, they are serving, Kerala food as well as continental food, as most of the tourists are from outside India.
I really like that candle light dinner, and Yummy breakfast as well.
 How to Reach
from Kochi or Ernakulam- 170 km, you can take train to Varkala or reach by road as well, it is around 3 hours travel and by train, 2.5 hours
from Thiruvananthpuram- 50 km, can be reachable by road as well as train

Hotels where I stayed

  • Bamboo House
  • Sea breeze beach resort
  • Thiruvambadi beach resort
This was all about Varkala beach, Varkala is also famouns for 2000 yrs old Janardhan Swami temple, it is also nearby
