JAISELMER, Rajasthan

Jaiselmer Fort

Jaiselmer is a famous tourist destination in India, it is known as the Golden city, you can see the pic, whole city is golden in color, it is better to visit the place in the winter season, as the temperature is to high in summers.
there are lot of palaces & havelis, extremely beautiful, amazing, it is worth seeing

Palace museum, Jaiselmer fort

Patwon Ki Haweli
do not miss Jaisalmer Fort area, and inside the palace museum, Jain temple, there are lots of hawelis, not to miss Patwon ki haveli, it is not to far from the fort.

we spent two nights in Jaiselmer, first night in the city, we saw the fort area and the haweli’ s around, some converted in to hotels as well, enjoyed traditional food and next day we enjoyed in Sum Sand dunes

Shopping at Jaiselmer Fort

Mirch Pakoda & Pyaz Kachori
it was nice drive till Sand dunes, we stayed there in Swiss tents, it was a different experience in life, all the basic facilities was there inside the tent, breakfast- dinner was included in the package, in the day time we went for camel safari
Sum sand dunes
Kalbelia dancer
it was wow! experience, first time in my life I was experiencing this
Kalbelia dance

really its nice to see the live performance by kalbelia dancers, nice music and folk songs

after camel safari, we came back to our tents, there was a program in the evening, on the occasion of New years eve, it was so cold 31st Dec, but thank God, there was bonfire in the sitting area,  lots of folk dances and folk songs performed by the local musical groups, the show was good, we felt  like dancing with them, after that dinner started, the menu was the local traditional Rajasthani food, the staff was local village people staying in border area villages.

after that we went to sleep, night was little scary, the place is safe, but still there was no locks in the tents, so from my point of view, I would like to suggest that better to go with bigger groups, and one more thing carry basic medicines with you, as no hospitals nearby.

next day morning we started from Sand dunes after the breakfast by road to Jodhpur railway Station.

How to reach:

by Train: Delhi to Jaiselmer or
Delhi to Jodhpur, as there are better train options
by road:  better to travel by road from Jodhpur to Jaiselmer, its a nice road trip around         5 hrs journey from Jodhpur
by Air:     Delhi to Jodhpur, then by road from Jodhpur to Jaiselmer

one should cover both Jodhpur and Jaiselmer together, Jodhpur is also a nice place, you can stay there for one night.
