Munnar is in Kerala state of India, surrounded by lush green tea estates, very beautiful, just like a paradise, I was there in the month of Jan’2012, weather was good, specially in the evening it was cold, you must carry your light woolens at that time.
I took taxi from Kochi to Munnar, it was four hours journey, mostly hotels are good in Munnar, food was awesome, we stayed there for three nights, it was two days sight scene plan, you can hire a taxi and see around its all surrounded by tea plantations, lakes, forests, waterfalls & mountains, perfect place for perfect holiday.
first day we covered, Mattupetty dam, botanical garden ( must see awesome plants) , some lakes and sight scenes and also there is an auditorium in Main Munnar near Market, here we saw the one hour show of Kalaripayattu- an traditional Indian martial art from Kerala, you can also watch Kathakali
next day we covered Anayirangal( it is covered with lush green carpet of tea plantation), most of the area is covered by Tata tea plantation, after that we saw sandal wood plantation in Marayoor, the place was full of sandal wood fragrance, some waterfalls, the whole area was beautiful, there is so much to explore, I would definitely visit Munnar again.
on the same day atleast 18-20 kms from Marayoor, we went to Chinar wild life santuary & Indira Gandhi wildlife sanctuary & national park on Munnar & Tamilnadu border area, we also entered to Amrawathi nagar of Tamilnadu and saw Sainik school & Amrawathi Dam, there is an Amrawathi Crocodile farm as well, you can see lots of crocodile there.
shopping in Munnar: you can buy local products, type of tea’s, spices etc.
our plan was to go Madurai from Munnar, so on the last day we covered Devikulam it was a small hill station, it is approx 16-17 kms from Munnar, on the way to Maduri there is Cardamom plantation in most of the area.
Munnar trip was really memorable, I would surely go there again and again. really missing………….
